2013 Breed Demo Day and AGM
Hats Off to Sterling and Colette Gates of New Ross who hosted the Canadian Horse Demo Day at their farm in September of 2013. The weather couldn’t have been any nicer – a beautiful crisp fall day with blazing autumn colours everywhere. It was obvious that Sterling and Colette had put a great deal of thought and effort into readying their place for the event: the venue was well organized, with plenty of parking for the spectators and the rigs. The displays of tack and horse drawn vehicles was very impressive and caught the attention of many of those in attendance. Sterling and Colette put on many demonstrations using their very useful Canadian Horses – both under saddle and in harness. Sterling even impressed us all by hitching 3-abreast and dragging the riding ring! Who needs a tractor when you’ve got Canadian horses to do farm work?
A few other members took their horses to New Ross for the event as well, and we are so grateful to them as we know the effort involved with preparing for an event, trailering out, etc. So a special THANK YOU goes out to new members Tanna & Mike Smith for bringing their lovely boy “Odin”; Christie Riddell for bringing Strider; Fred and Barb MacGill who brought their Canadian mare Sadie, and Ross Farm Museum who brought two of the Canadian horses currently in use at the Ross Farm Historic Museum. It was great to see so many Canadian Horses in one place, showing everyone just what they can do. Thank you to everyone who hauled in and helped to make the day a huge success.
Enjoy a few highlights from the day!
We’ve put together some images to show you a sampling of the memories from our 2013 Canadian Horse breed demonstration held at McInnis Lake Farm, home of Sterling and Colette Gates, in New Ross, NS.
